The Rt. Rev. George Paul Reeves
7th Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Georgia
My Sisters & Brothers,
I write to inform you that Bishop George Paul Reeves, 7th Bishop of the Diocese of Georgia, died on Wednesday, April 14th, after a long illness. Bishop Reeves was born in 1918 and was ordained a Deacon in the Episcopal Church May 6, 1948 and a Priest on November 1, 1948. He was consecrated the 7th Bishop of our diocese on September 30, 1969. He served as our Bishop from 1972 – 1985.
Bishop Reeves was living in Asheville, North Carolina when he entered into God’s greater glory. His Requiem Eucharist in the Diocese of Georgia will be held on Wednesday, April 21st at 12:00 p.m. at St. John’s, Savannah. A reception will follow the liturgy in the parish house. Diocesan Clergy should not vest, but plan on being seated with the congregation.
I ask that all of us keep Bishop’s Reeves’ family in our prayers. His faithful service to our Diocese will always be remembered. May he inherit life eternal with all the Saints.
