Attached is an information sheet that I hope you will share with your vestry and other lay leaders. It tells about the Church Development Institute (CDI), which is coming to the Diocese of Georgia in late 2010. CDI is a two-year leadership training program over 8 weekends that focuses on the ministry of developing the spiritual community and organizational life of a congregation.

I have been a senior trainer with CDI for over a decade and have benefited from CDI ever since I completed the initial training program in the late 1980s. I cannot say enough about what CDI did for me in my leadership of parishes over the years since then. My training gave me practical leadership tools that were grounded in our Anglican tradition, but that were also informed by the best leadership and organizational development practices available.

I will know more about what we will have to charge for participation in a month or so. My aim is to keep the cost as low as possible so everyone will be able to afford to participate. We will set up the cost structure so that the more people who participate from your parish the less cost it will be per person.

The Church Development Institute is the one program for clergy and lay leaders that I have experienced that really does help us make our congregations stronger, healthier, more deeply rooted in our tradition, more responsive to God, and more effective in our communities.

Again, please read the attached notice, save the dates, and stay tuned for more information about how you and your lay leaders can register and participate.
