I am pleased to announce that the Reverend Leigh Hall has accepted the call to be Canon for Youth & Young Adult Ministries on my staff in the Diocesan office. Beginning this summer, she will work with me, other Diocesan staff, and the clergy & lay leadership of the Diocese to develop a faithful and effective ministry to youth & young adults. Her specific responsibilities will be as follows:
· Provide vision and coordination for the diocese’s ministry to young people from 6th through 12th grades.
· Support congregational youth ministry;
· Organize and oversee the Diocesan Youth Commission;
· Develop, staff, market, and lead high school and middle school retreats;
· Coordinate leaders of the New Beginnings and Happening programs;
· Develop and market age appropriate diocesan sponsored mission trips;
· Coordinate and oversee the diocesan college chaplaincies;
· Administer the diocesan youth & young adult budget;
· Be the Diocesan Coordinator for the Vocare Young Adult Ministry.
In making this appointment, I want to make clear my strong commitment to this ministry. Leigh will have my ear on a daily basis and we work together to make our ministry to youth & young adults the best it can be.
I am also pleased to announce that the Reverend Justin Yawn, recently ordained to the transitional diaconate, will be the new Assistant to the Rector at Trinity Church, Statesboro and chaplain to the students, faculty, and staff at Georgia Southern University.
I hope you will join me in welcoming both of these fine and gifted clergy to their new positions in the Diocese of Georgia.
